Trademark Fees Are Increasing

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is starting the New Year off with a bang. Starting January 18, 2025, USPTO will be increasing their filing fees.

The USPTO has two types of trademarks applications, TEAS Standard and TEAS Plus. TEAS Standard is used when the applicant wants to write a custom description of the mark and TEAS Plus is used when the applicant uses a pre-existing description from the USPTO ID Manual.

Currently, TEAS Standard applications are $350 per class and TEAS Plus are $250 per class. Beginning January 18, 2025, TEAS Standard applications will be an additional $200 per class ($550) and TEAS Plus applications will be an additional $100 per class ($350). Additionally, applicants using TEAS Standard, where they input their custom descriptions, will incur an additional $200 fee for every additional group of 1000 characters after the original group of 1000 characters.

To benefit from the current rates, applications must be filed and submitted on or before January 17, 2025. If you are a business or entrepreneur who is considering a trademark, file today to save significantly on your application fees!
